How it works

Three steps from first call to live site

  1. 1

Tell us the jobs you want and the towns you cover

Three quick questions on the form or a short phone call: the work you want more of, the area you'll travel to, and what you hold, from Gas Safe to NICEIC to CHAS. You get one fixed price and a timescale in writing, with the scope listed, and nothing to pay until you say yes.

  2. 2

We build it, you check it on your phone

We write the words from that conversation, so your job is checking facts, not writing essays. Send job photos and a copy of your certificates from your phone; we design the pages, then you approve a preview on your own phone before anything goes live.

  3. 3

Go live, and keep it yours

The site launches on a domain in your name, every call and quote request comes straight to you, and you get a handover note listing what you own and where it lives. Hosting and care is an optional monthly plan you can leave at the end of any paid month, and monthly SEO is there if you want Google sending more of the work.

What's included

What goes into a website we build for a trade

  • Your number, one tap, on every screen

The phone number sits at the top of every page and stays in thumb reach as the customer scrolls, with WhatsApp next to it if you use it. The quote form asks for a postcode, the job and a photo, then emails you and stores the enquiry so nothing gets lost. That is what makes it a lead generation website rather than an online brochure.

  • Accreditations a customer can check in a tap

Gas Safe, NICEIC, NAPIT, TrustMark, CHAS, FMB: each badge you hold gets a place near the top of the page, beside the quote button, and links to the register so the customer can see you're on it. If you don't hold it, it doesn't appear.

  • One page per service, and real pages for your towns

Boiler swaps, consumer unit changes, flat roofs, patios: each job you want more of gets its own page with its own photos and quote button. If your patch is bigger than one town, the area pages say something true about each place, the jobs you've done there and how far you travel, instead of the same text with a different town at the top.

  • Your reviews and your jobs on your own page

The Google reviews you've earned are shown on the site, where the customer is already looking, not only on a directory profile that lists your competitors underneath. Job photos from your phone are enough for the gallery; a tidy before-and-after beats stock photography every time.

  • Fast on a phone with two bars of signal

Light pages, properly sized images and no pile of plugins, checked on a real phone rather than a desktop. The technical basics Google looks for go in during the build, so there's no separate project to bolt on later.

  • Yours outright from launch day

The domain is registered in your name, the site files are yours to take anywhere, and so are the words and photos. Hosting and care is a separate monthly plan; leave it and the site goes with you, which is the opposite of a subscription builder where the site goes dark when the payments stop.

Prices and getting found

Two things every trade asks first

Pricing

Two packages, one fixed price in writing

Essentials from £595 and Business from £995, with everything each includes listed in full on the pricing page so you can compare them before you speak to anyone. After a short call about your trade and your patch you get one fixed price in writing, and it doesn't move once the work starts.

SEO for trades

Getting found on Google is a separate job, done monthly

A good site is the start; ranking for the jobs and towns you want is ongoing work on your Google Business Profile, reviews, service pages and listings. We do it as a fixed monthly plan, reported in calls and enquiries rather than rankings, and you can cancel at the end of any paid month.

Questions

Trades ask us

What are the best websites for trades?

If you mean places to find work, the well-known ones are Checkatrade, MyBuilder, Rated People and TrustATrader, and our Checkatrade alternatives guide compares them honestly. If you mean the best kind of website for a trade to have, it's one you own outright, where your number is one tap away, your accreditations are shown and linked, each service and town has its own page, and your reviews sit on the page rather than on someone else's profile. The live client sites further up this page show what that looks like.

Which website builder is best for tradesmen?

There are three routes: a DIY builder such as Wix or Squarespace if you have the time and don't need proper service-area pages; a pay-monthly builder aimed at trades, where the fee never stops and you should check who keeps the site and the domain if you leave; or a one-off build by someone who does trades, which costs more up front and is yours from day one. Ours is the third route. Whichever you pick, compare the total over a few years and the ownership terms, not the headline.

How much will it cost, and when do I find out?

Before you pay anything. After a short call about your trade, your patch and what you've got online now, you get one fixed price for a written scope, and it doesn't grow once the work starts. The pricing page lists what's in both packages — Essentials from £595, Business from £995 — and our cost guide explains what trade websites cost across the UK market and why quotes vary so much.

Who owns the website if I stop paying?

You do. The build is paid for once and the site belongs to you from the day it goes live: the domain is registered in your name, and the files, words and photos are yours to take anywhere. The only monthly plan is hosting and care, and if you leave it you keep the site, which is the difference from pay-monthly builders where the site is rented and goes dark when the payments stop.

Do I still need my own website if I'm on Checkatrade or MyBuilder?

A directory sends you leads while you pay for it, and on the same screen the customer can see your competitors. Your own site works alongside it: it's where a recommendation gets checked, where Google sends people searching for your trade in your town, and where the only number on the page is yours. Keep the listing if it pays for itself, and read our guide on whether Checkatrade is worth it before you renew.

How long does it take, and what happens once it's live?

You get the timescale in writing with the price, before any deposit; what stretches it is almost always waiting on photos, a scan of a certificate or a yes on the design, not the build itself. Once the site is live, calls and quote requests come straight to you, the domain and site are yours, and you can add the hosting and care plan so updates, backups and small edits are handled for you. SEO is a separate monthly plan if you want more of the work to come from Google.
