Law firm website design
Law firm website design with your prices and regulation in plain view
About 33,100 searches a month in the UK are for solicitors near me, and 8,100 are for the SRA register. A client choosing a firm compares prices and checks who regulates it before they call. The SRA, which regulates solicitors in England and Wales, sets out in its Transparency Rules what your website must show for conveyancing, probate and the other listed services, plus your complaints procedure, your SRA number and the SRA's digital badge. A law firm website built around those pages makes the first conversation easier to ask for.

Demo website

Ashcombe & Vale is a fictional business. We designed and built its website as a demo of how we build for solicitors, using illustrative photography.
Open the live demo(opens in a new tab)01 / Fees
Show the fee, the VAT and what sits outside it
The fees page gives a sample fee for a freehold purchase, a single will and an uncontested probate application. Each shows the VAT in pounds, what the fee covers, and what is charged separately, such as searches and Land Registry charges.

02 / Enquiry
Ask for an outline, not the whole file
The enquiry takes three steps: what it is about, one way to reply, then a check before sending. It asks for a short outline and tells the client not to send documents or confidential details until the firm has replied.
No documents until the firm replies
03 / People and complaints
Name the solicitor and the route to complain
Team profiles give each solicitor's role, area of law and an SRA number, marked as samples on the demo. A complaints page is linked from the footer of every page, where a real firm publishes its procedure.
Complaints linked from every page
Built for your clients
Everything a client checks before instructing a firm.
Price and service pages for the listed services
For residential conveyancing, uncontested probate and the other services the SRA lists, your site shows the total cost or a range, what is included, the key stages and timescales, disbursements and VAT.
Your complaints procedure, with the Ombudsman
Your website must publish your complaints procedure, with how and when a client can complain to the Legal Ombudsman and to the SRA. We give it its own page, linked from every page.
Your SRA number and digital badge
An SRA-authorised firm displays its SRA number and the SRA's digital badge in a prominent place on its website. Both get a fixed place in the site's footer, on every page.
An enquiry that asks for an outline only
A short, stepped enquiry from every page: what it is about, one way to reply, and a reminder to keep documents and confidential details back until the firm replies.
Who will do the work
The price rules ask for the experience and qualifications of the people doing the work and their supervisors. Each fee guide names who does the work and who supervises it, and their profiles give the detail beside each area of law.
Guides clients read before they call
Plain articles on preparing for a first conversation and understanding a written scope, each ending in an enquiry. Written with you, in your own words.
Found when clients compare firms
The right matters. From the right postcodes.
Law firm website design for the client comparing firms on price and regulation before the first call.
Home movers comparing conveyancing prices
Searches for conveyancing solicitors nearby run at about 5,400 a month, with 2,400 more for a conveyancing quote. A price page with the stages and timescales is what they compare.
Clients checking you before they call
About 8,100 searches a month are for the SRA register, the SRA's record of the firms and people it regulates. Your SRA number on every page lets a client match you to it.

Your questions, answered
A few things solicitors ask us.
Need a straight answer? Speak to us.
0161 399 4054What will my fixed quote include?
Your pages, the features on them, the final price and the timescale, in writing before you pay a deposit. Hosting, care and any ongoing SEO are listed separately, so you can see what is one-off and what is monthly. On the Business package the first year of hosting and care is included.
What does the SRA require on a law firm's website?
Four things. Under the SRA Transparency Rules: cost information for any of the listed services you offer, clear, accessible and in a prominent place; your complaints procedure, with how and when a client can complain to the Legal Ombudsman and to the SRA; and, for an SRA-authorised firm, your SRA number and the SRA's digital badge in a prominent place. And a statement that you are regulated by the SRA, with your SRA number: the SRA's badge Q&A says that requirement remains alongside the badge. A firm without a website must give the same cost and complaints information on request.
Which services need prices on the website?
For individuals: residential conveyancing (sales, purchases, mortgages and remortgages), uncontested probate within the UK, immigration applications and First-tier Tribunal immigration appeals (not asylum), summary-only road traffic offences at a single magistrates' court hearing, and employees' unfair or wrongful dismissal claims. For businesses: defending those dismissal claims, debt recovery up to £100,000 and business premises licensing applications. Publicly funded work is excluded.
Can we show hourly rates instead of a total price?
Not instead of it. For the services the SRA lists, the Transparency Rules ask for the total cost or, where that is not practicable, an average cost or a range of costs. The basis for your charges, including any hourly rates or fixed fees, is published as well as that figure, not in place of it. So a conveyancing page can explain an hourly rate, as long as it also gives the total, the average or the range a client can expect.
What should the complaints page say about the Legal Ombudsman?
The rule asks for how and when a client can complain to the Legal Ombudsman and to the SRA. The SRA's suggested text, written with the Ombudsman, says a client must first try the firm, then go to the Ombudsman within six months of the firm's final response and within one year of the problem, or of when they should have known about it. You can adapt the wording.
How much does a law firm website cost?
It turns on how many services need their own price and service information under the SRA's rules. A sole practitioner may fit Starter, from £295; a small practice with conveyancing or probate beside its other work usually needs Essentials, from £595; a page for each area of law you price is Business, from £995. VAT is included, and the price is fixed in writing before you pay anything.
