Skip hire website design

Skip hire website design that plans the skip before it arrives

Skip hire website design is for firms whose first question from a customer is nearly always which size. UK searches for skip hire near me average around 40,500 a month, and skip sizes another 8,100. Before anyone orders, the site should show each skip with what fits in it and what its price includes, ask whether it will stand on a drive or the road, list what cannot go in, and give a waste carrier number the householder can look up. Skip hire web design built that way turns a vague clear-out into a request you can quote from.

01 / Sizes

Four sizes, each with a job and a footprint

The 2, 4, 6 and 8 yard skips each come with the work they suit, from "A small clear-out" to "A kitchen refit", a rough bag count and length, width and height in metres. "Ask about this size" carries the choice into the request, and the guide adds "Confirm heavy-material suitability, vehicle access and placement before hire." The figures are the demo's samples; on your site they are your own.

A size picked from the guide

02 / Quote request

Drive or road, asked before a date

The request runs in four steps: Project, Place & timing, Your details and Check. Place asks for the postcode and a "Planned position": "Private drive or land", "Public road" or "Not sure yet". Details asks for a name and says "One contact method is enough." The note box suggests materials or access and adds "No documents or payment information."

Placement asked up front

03 / Materials

What goes in, and what stays out

Beside the sizes, "Describe first" lists household materials, branches, timber, bricks, concrete and soil, and "Keep out" lists hazardous waste, asbestos, paint, chemicals, batteries, electrical items and upholstered seating, with "Ask separately about plasterboard." Two guides follow: "Choosing a skip size", which starts with the materials, and "Planning a skip on the road", which links GOV.UK's skip licence page.

A keep-out list by the sizes

Built for customers clearing out

What a customer checks before ordering a skip.

Start with the size, then the questions a customer asks before a lorry turns into the street: where the skip can stand, what can go in it, what the price includes and who is taking the waste away.
  • A size guide in bags and metres

Each skip with its length, width and height, a rough count of bags and the kind of job it suits, plus a not sure option. Someone who has never hired one can choose a starting point in a minute.

  • Where the skip will stand

A skip wholly on a drive or private land needs no licence; one on a public road does, and GOV.UK's page for England and Wales says it cannot go on the pavement. Ask the position in the request, and say who applies in your area.

  • A keep-out list beside every size

In England, hazardous waste must not be mixed with other waste, plasterboard is kept apart for recovery, and upholstered sofas and chairs that may hold persistent pollutants must not be mixed in a skip. Say what you refuse and what you take separately.

  • Prices that say what they include

A from price for each size should already hold the charges every customer pays, such as VAT, delivery and collection, with the hire period named. Where a road position or extra days add to it, show how much, or how it is worked out, next to the price.

  • Your waste carrier number, ready to look up

In every UK nation the law asks householders to take reasonable steps to hand waste only to someone authorised, and the code for England and Wales names skip hire. Show your number so a customer can find you on the public register.

  • Guides for the size and the road

One guide on choosing a skip by its load rather than its volume alone, one on a skip in the street: who applies, what the council may set, and that the owner must light it at night and mark it with a name and number.

Found by customers clearing a house, a garden or a site

The kitchen refit. The garden clear-out.

Skip hire website design aimed at the customer working out which skip, and what it will really cost.

  • Searches for a skip nearby

Skip hire near me averages about 40,500 UK searches a month. It reached 60,500 in March and April 2026 and fell to 18,100 in December 2025, so spring is when the phone rings.

  • Searches about size and price

Skip sizes draws roughly 8,100 a month, skip hire prices 6,600 (one row with skip hire cost) and how much is skip hire 4,400. A size guide that says what each price covers answers all three.

How it works

From first chat to a website that works.

  1. 01

    Brief

Tell us your skip sizes and what each price includes, the hire period, what you refuse or take separately, the towns you deliver to, your waste carrier registration and who applies for road permits where you work. A written scope and a fixed figure come back before anything is built.

  2. 02

    Build

The size guide, the keep-out list, the request that asks drive or road, a page for each service and the two planning guides, written with you. You approve every price line and every sentence about permits.

  3. 03

    Launch

Before launch we try the request on a phone, read every size and price back to you, search your registration number on the register it belongs to and match the permit wording to your council's own page. The site then goes live on a domain registered to you.

What will my fixed quote include?

Your pages, the features on them, the final price and the timescale, in writing before you pay a deposit. Hosting, care and any ongoing SEO are listed separately, so you can see what is one-off and what is monthly. On the Business package the first year of hosting and care is included.

Who gets the permit when a skip goes on the road?

It depends on the council, so the site should say who does it where you work. In England and Wales the Highways Act 1980 says a skip must not be put on a highway without the highway authority's permission, and GOV.UK says that in most areas the skip hire company gets the licence, though in some the customer has to. GOV.UK adds that a skip cannot go on the pavement, that one entirely on private land needs no licence, and that skip bags on the road need one too. Once it is out, the Act puts duties on the skip's owner, which means the hire firm unless the hire runs for a month or more: light it during the hours of darkness, mark it with the owner's name and telephone number or address, and remove it as soon as practicable after it is filled. In Scotland the Roads (Scotland) Act 1984 asks for the roads authority's written permission and the owner's name and number or address on the skip. In Northern Ireland, consent comes from the Department for Infrastructure's Roads office. Councils set their own fees and conditions, so check yours before you put a figure on the site.

Should a skip hire website show its waste carrier registration?

Yes, because your customer has a duty to check it. In England and Wales the Environmental Protection Act 1990 says the occupier of a home must take all reasonable measures to hand household waste only to an authorised person, and a registered carrier is one. Scotland's version of the Act asks for reasonable steps, and Northern Ireland's Waste and Contaminated Land Order 1997 sets the same duty. The code of practice for England and Wales names skip hire and says a householder should check the firm has valid upper tier registration, with a number starting CBDU. Customers can search the Environment Agency's public register in England, NRW's in Wales, SEPA's in Scotland and DAERA's in Northern Ireland. In Scotland, SEPA's standard condition for transporting waste asks for the authorisation reference in any advertisement for waste transport services. Put the number in the footer and beside the quote request.

Why list what can't go in the skip?

Because a few materials change how a whole load has to be handled, and customers ask before they start filling. In England, GOV.UK says hazardous waste, such as asbestos, chemicals, batteries, solvents and fridges, must not be mixed with other waste. Plasterboard and other gypsum waste must not go to a landfill cell that takes biodegradable waste and has to be separated for re-use or recovery, and asbestos goes to a hazardous waste landfill or a separate cell. Upholstered sofas, armchairs and other household seating may contain persistent organic pollutants: mixing them with other waste, in a skip included, must be avoided, and a mixed load is then managed as POPs waste. These rules fall on whoever holds and disposes of the waste, so the site can present the list as your policy and say which items you take separately. Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland publish their own guidance.

Can I show skip prices without the permit and extras?

Only with care. The CMA's price transparency guidance says it is illegal to hide charges the customer will have to pay until later in the purchase, that the total price should normally include mandatory charges, and that a from price is fine if it includes every applicable mandatory charge and does not mislead about what it covers. Where part of the price depends on the customer, the information to work it out must be as prominent as the price, and normally next to it. For skip hire that may mean showing what a road position adds, or how that is set, beside each size, rather than a line saying permits are extra. The CAP Code says the same of advertising: charges that are not optional belong in the quoted price, and one that depends on the customer's circumstances must be flagged with how it is calculated. The site should also give your business name and address. We do not quote an average price: no official source publishes one.

Could I use a skip hire template or a booking platform instead?

You could, and several of the firms that come up for skip hire website design sell booking platforms with postcode pricing. A template gets a site live cheaply. It will not write your size guide, your keep-out list, the permit line for your council or price wording that holds up, and that is the part we do with you. If you want customers to book a date or pay by card online, which system and how it connects is checked and priced before the quote; our pricing page lists what each package includes.
