Dental website design

Dental website design that builds in your team, fees and GDC details

"Dentist near me" is searched on Google about 246,000 times a month in the UK. A patient who arrives from that search wants to know early whether you see NHS patients, who they would see and what a first assessment costs. The General Dental Council has its own list for a practice website too, from each clinician's qualification and GDC number to the complaints route and the date the site last changed. Our dental website design starts from both.

01 / Team

Each person's role and registration, side by side

The team page names two general dentists and a dental hygienist, each shown with a sample GDC registration number. Nobody is described as a specialist, and the portrait is captioned as a stock model.

No specialist claims

02 / Fees

The assessment priced before any treatment

Seven sample fees, from a new patient assessment to a child assessment, each with a short note beside it: the implant assessment says imaging and treatment are quoted separately, and the whitening assessment that it is separate from any course of whitening. A written estimate follows the assessment, and the page states that no credit or payment plan is offered.

Estimate after assessment

03 / Treatments

Six treatment pages with nothing promised

Check-ups, whitening, aligners, implants, veneers and children's dentistry each get a page on who it suits, what the visit covers and what happens next. Whitening is for adults and no shade is promised, and every photo is captioned as stock rather than a result.

Built for patients and the GDC

What a dental practice website needs to show.

First the details the GDC lists for a practice site, then what a patient weighs up: NHS or private, the fee, and what a treatment can and cannot do.
  • Qualification, country and GDC number for every clinician

Under the GDC's guidance, each dental professional named on your site must have their professional qualification, the country it comes from and their GDC registration number displayed. On the sites we build, every profile carries all three, checked against the register before launch.

  • Practice details, the GDC's details and a last-updated date

Your address, email and phone, the GDC's contact details or a link to its website, and the date the site last changed: the GDC's guidance lists all of them for a practice website, so we put them in every page's footer.

  • NHS, mixed or wholly private, said plainly

The GDC says practice publicity must make clear which of the three you are. A mixed practice must also say which treatments are NHS and which private, and a fully private one should make sure patients know before they attend.

  • Fees patients can read before they ring

The GDC tells patients that dental professionals must give clear price information on their website. We set assessments and treatments out on one fees page, with a from-to range where a price varies, as the GDC allows on a practice price list, and a note of what is charged separately.

  • Whitening and aligner pages that keep to the evidence

Only a registered dentist, or a hygienist, therapist or clinical dental technician on a dentist's prescription, may whiten teeth. The ASA wants evidence behind shade, speed and comfort claims, so we write each page around the options and the limits instead.

  • A complaints page that says where to go next

Your own procedure first, then the next step for a patient who is still unhappy: the Dental Complaints Service for private care, or the relevant NHS body for NHS care. We link it from every page.

Where new patients start

NHS or private. Answered before the phone rings.

Dental website design for patients comparing practices: they check NHS or private, the fee and the dentist's registration before they ask for a visit.

  • Patients looking for a practice

Searches for a dentist near me run at about 246,000 a month in the UK, with 90,500 more for an NHS dentist near me. A homepage that says whether you take NHS patients answers the second search straight away.

  • The register, searched by number

"gdc register" is searched about 18,100 times a month, for dentists and six other dental professions and by registrants themselves. The register can be searched by GDC number, the number we put on each profile.

How it works

From first chat to a website that works.

  1. 01

    Brief

Tell us whether you are NHS, mixed or private, who is on the team with their qualifications and GDC numbers, the treatments and fees you publish, and how patients ask for a visit today. If you want the site linked to booking or practice software, we check that and price it before the quote.

  2. 02

    Build

Team profiles, the fees page, treatment pages and the complaints page, written with you. Treatment wording stays within what your evidence supports, and nothing goes live without your sign-off.

  3. 03

    Launch

We look up each GDC number and any specialist title on the register, confirm the GDC link, the complaints route and the last-updated date appear site-wide, and try a test request on a phone. The site then launches on a domain registered to you.

What will my fixed quote include?

Your pages, the features on them, the final price and the timescale, in writing before you pay a deposit. Hosting, care and any ongoing SEO are listed separately, so you can see what is one-off and what is monthly. On the Business package the first year of hosting and care is included.

Is there a checklist for what goes on a dental practice website?

The GDC, which regulates dental professionals across the UK, gives one in its guidance on advertising. For each dental professional named on the site: their professional qualification, the country it comes from and their GDC registration number. For the practice: its name and address, email and phone, the GDC's contact details or a link to its website, your complaints procedure with who to contact if a patient is not satisfied, and the date the site was last updated. In Wales, a private practice must also post its patient information leaflet on its website, under the Private Dentistry (Wales) Regulations 2017. We build each item in. The GDC also says you must update the site regularly, so that it accurately reflects the people at the practice and the service offered; tell us when someone joins or leaves.

Can our dentists be listed as 'Dr' on the website?

The GDC allows 'Dr' as a courtesy title, as long as it does not suggest a medical doctor unless the dentist is GMC registered, and it suggests a form such as 'Dr A. Smith, Dentist'. CAP, which writes the advertising code the ASA enforces, goes further: if you use it, say clearly and prominently that the title is a courtesy one and that no general medical qualification is held. It adds that the safest course is to leave 'Dr' out unless a medical qualification is held. We set profiles out whichever way you choose, with each person's qualification beside their name.

Can we show before and after photos of our work?

The ASA's advice is that before and after photos of dental treatment, whitening or straightening must be genuine and representative, and that you must hold signed and dated proof they have not been manipulated. It treats them in the same way as testimonials. The demo uses captioned stock photography and shows no results, so if you add your own cases, the proof sits with you before the page goes live.

Who can offer teeth whitening, and what can the website say about it?

The GDC's position, confirmed by the High Court in GDC v Jamous, is that whitening is the practice of dentistry: only registered dentists, dental therapists, dental hygienists or clinical dental technicians working to a dentist's prescription may provide it, whatever product is used. The GDC also reminds registrants that products containing or releasing between 0.1% and 6% hydrogen peroxide cannot be used on anyone under 18, except wholly to treat or prevent disease. On the website, the ASA expects evidence for any shade, speed or lasting result, so the page covers the assessment, what whitening cannot change, such as crowns, and possible sensitivity, as the demo's whitening page does.

Where should our complaints page point a patient who is still unhappy?

Your own procedure comes first, and the GDC says it should be displayed where patients can see it and name other independent organisations they can contact. After that: for private treatment, the Dental Complaints Service, which the GDC funds and which covers private dental care across the UK; for NHS treatment, the relevant NHS body (HSC in Northern Ireland), and then the relevant Ombudsman. The GDC lists the complaints details among what a practice site must show, so we link the page from every footer.

Do we need a CQC rating on the website?

Usually not. In England the CQC inspects dental practices but says it does not give ratings to dentist services, and the duty to show a CQC rating on a website applies only where a provider has received one. The other nations register private practices through their own regulators: Healthcare Inspectorate Wales, Healthcare Improvement Scotland and RQIA in Northern Ireland. What every practice site does carry is the GDC's list in the first answer above.
